A measure of how much mass a vessel can carry. It does not include the weight of the vessel itself. DWT is the sum of the weights of cargo, fuel, fresh water, ballast water, provisions, passengers, and crew.
A vessel that is not in active service and may be awaiting better markets, fitting out, or work needed for classification.
